By the time that the new City Councillors on the Riel Community Committee meet to approve the new residential development in South Fraipont, south of built-out Bonavista, there will be already be a tall soil mountain in the former farm fields. Good old boys in their 4x4s once tried to climb the soil hill in Bonavista in 2014. Good old boys do what good old boys have to do.
The Reimer fleet of front end loaders and discing tractors is starting to assemble. New oil filters on their engines show they are all ready to work.
Since Reimer Soils are located just south of Regent, off of Lagimodiere, the soil company dump trucks will probably have to access Warde Avenue from Melnick Road. New road traffic on Warde is always welcome, I hear. The topsoil east of the railway tracks has already had its first plow.

South Royalwood, in contrast, is a scrubby desert this year. Canada geese will have to feed somewhere else this fall. No left over grain here. While a retention pond will be probably be installed in this field this winter, there will be no residential construction on Smith Farm in South Royalwood for at least a few years.
