A deal is a deal, until it isn’t

The battle in Normand Park to oppose Progessive RE’s attempts to build RMF-L apartments next to the riverside Henteleff Park resulted in multiple fiery public meetings. In the end, a compromise was made. While Progressive was allowed to build several tall buildings overlooking the park in the north, they had to reduce the height of their buildings that faced the existing single-story bungalows to their south. Progressive RE and its in-house architect, Affinity, agreed to limit the height of three 2-storey townhouse buildings, encompassing 28 townhouse units in all, to 26-feet. Many years after the compromise was made, Affinity Architecture has applied to the Riel CC to amend the clause that limited their townhouses’ heights. The residents of Creek Bend Hollow, south of the Affinity designed Creek Bend Flats apartments be built at 180 Creek Bend, should take note. A deal is a deal, until it isn’t.
