Progressive RE was busy at the 180 Creek Bend Road property yesterday morning. The many small piles of dumped dirt are now two big piles of dirt. At least one half of the long grass has been mowed. The City mandated board up of the house is still in good condition. Despite all expectations, historic Carriere House is with us, the last of the Metis farm houses on the west bank of the Seine north of the Perimeter. East bank farm houses in South Royalwood are still hanging on, at least for this decade.
Local ENGO Save Our Seine is currently researching even older Metis homesteads such as the historic Pilon House, found south of the Perimeter Highway. We will be sure to ask for a sneak peek at their upcoming Vermette Seine River Forest report, to be released this fall.
